Fall Decorating and October Wrap Up

Happy Halloween! This month has flown by. But before the month escapes I thought I would show some of my Fall/Halloween decorating around my house. The chalkboard planters seem to work well for any season.

 I got this beautiful ice bucket at a yard sale and put in some feathers for Fall decorating. I don't know about you but I love white pumpkins and feathers!

 Our Mozart bust got a little witches hat I found at a craft store. He's definitely jazzing up the piano area (along with more white pumpkins-okay, maybe I'm a little obsessed).

If you follow me on instagram you can see some other inspiring pictures of Fall. We just turned our pumpkins into this fun BOO jack-o-lantern and made a monster door. By far, the monster door is my kid's favorite.

This month I went to a couple of antique shops, but this one place is my favorite in Northern Virginia.

Lastly, I made this large mirror this month out of $8 shingles. This project was fun because it didn't take long to make and I made it with one of my friends. I put up some more white pumpkins and some (fake) autumn grass and called it a day.

There you go, a little bit of Fall inspiration and decor around our house. Now, I'm off to make some soup and bread for those cute trick or treaters of mine. Hope you all have a great Halloween and weekend!

Fall Decorating Ideas

This weekend the air got crisp in Maryland and it started to feel like Fall. I recently went to Chartreuse, a local barn/shop where they sell vintage/antiques. There were some great Fall decorating ideas here so I wanted share with you some inspirations.

                                       Great color combination of teal and dark browns in this grouping.

This makes me excited already for Thanksgiving or a harvest party. Last year my friend Andrea and I threw a harvest party- it was so fun to decorate the table. 

I've been seeing a lot of navy and orange combinations lately. I love the two colors together. I walked out of there with a small globe, and hooks. I really enjoy going to these kind of shops to fuel the creative juices for future projects and staging ideas. After this excursion I put up my Fall wreath and got the box of Fall things out. Slowly, I'll get more things changed over.  How about you? What do you do to decorate for Fall?

Hamptons Darling!

My sister-in-law and I took a fun day trip to the Hamptons while we were in New York for Thanksgiving (she doesn't live far from it). Have you ever been to the Hamptons? Well, darling, I'm going to show you a few places we went to and homes I got pictures of because this place is ridiculously charming. Doesn't this look like a scene from, Somethings Gotta Give movie- probably because it is!

First stop, Tate's Bakeshop. Ina Garten recommends this store in one of her cookbooks (love Ina!) and their cookies are really amazing. I loved that it was just after Thanksgiving and they still had their beautiful Harvest display out.

   We went to designer Chris Mead's shop, English Country Antiques where they had many inspiring pieces of furniture. They buy from mostly England and Europe and oh boy- it's gorgeous!

This store was a "look only" store for me since we're talking Hamptons prices folks.

One thing I love about the movie Somethings Gotta Give, is the house and interior space which is a great example of Hamptons style- beach meets classic.

Now let's see a few homes-
I really like the geometric design in between these two windows.

                                                                     

We happened to be driving by Martha's house and admired her teal gate and matching trim. We drove around where the large estate homes are and it was so pretty, but I didn't want to trespass so I just snapped a few pictures from the car. 

This was one of our favorite homes on our drive since my sister-in-law and I both have a love for black shutters, dormers and large gnarly trees.
