Week 6: Tween Bedroom Makeover Reveal

Times up! Pencils down. Today is reveal day for our daughter's bedroom makeover. I am so excited to show you this refreshing space. Do you remember what it looked like before?
It's amazing what paint, fabric and some art work will do for a room.
I gave this adorable yard sale hutch a splash of coral paint and kept the inside the same SW Sea Salt paint I had on it. The plates are from a barn sale.
The hubs and I made the headboard and I sewed the floral pillow and added a coral trim ribbon to IKEA bedding.
I'm so glad our girl now has a bulletin board. I used an old Salvation Army picture and glued down some cork and then covered it with fabric.

Yesterday, over twenty designers revealed their rooms and today you can see all the linking participants in the ORC here. Get ready to be inspired by all these spaces. Everyone did such an incredible job! Hope you like the room. I will show you how we made the headboard and how I made the bedding soon (it's not too hard and so economical). Thanks for stopping by here.

The Making of a Tween Girl's Bedroom

Girl's Tween Bedroom Makeover

Girl's Tween Bedroom Makeover by tracylaverty

I haven't touched our daughter's room since we moved into our home and it's high time I did! We are starting off with a blank canvas in here, which is great! Linda from Calling It Home created a One Room Challenge (ORC) where twenty designers show a room they are working on and then reveal their final product at the end of six weeks. This is a great motivating challenge to get her room done.  I'll show you my progress of the room for the next four weeks (they're already two weeks into it). I'll be participating via her link party where other bloggers are showing their progress along with the other designers. I love this challenge because lets face it, I need a deadline!
.
Above is the inspiration board I have for our daughter's bedroom. Her room is a blank slate right now. Here are some BEFORE pictures.
I plan on making a headboard and adding in some new pillows, bedding and art work.
New curtains will go here and maybe some DIY window seats (if there is time). I'm excited to show you how this room is progressing over the next four weeks.

Come back this week to see my tutorial for the Melrose Knock-off table we made for the CWTS contest.
